Rhodesian Ridgeback
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large, athletic dog developed in southern Africa by the Boer settlers who crossed European breeds with the ridged hunting dogs of the Khoikhoi people. Originally bred to track lions, they are courageous, loyal, and have a distinctive ridge of hair running backwards along their spine. Ridgebacks are devoted family guardians with an independent streak.
